2015 U.S. – ASEAN VISITING SCHOLAR PROGRAM (USAS)
Fulbright Thailand (Thailand‑United States Educational Foundation) is pleased to announce a new Fulbright pilot initiative for ASEAN under the 2015 U.S. – ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program (USAS) in support of U.S. effort at regional and multilateral engagement in East Asia and Pacific. The program offers grants to Thai scholars, university faculty, foreign ministry and government officials, and professional staff of think tanks and other NGOs in Thailand and all 10 ASEAN member nations to travel to the U.S. for scholarly and professional research for 3-4 months on issues that are focused on ASEAN or the U.S - ASEAN relationship.
Thai scholars are invited to submit proposals in various areas of expertise; sciences & technology and social and human sciences) on issues that are focused on ASEAN or the U.S. - ASEAN relationship for a grant to conduct research or engage in special academic-related projects in the U.S. for a period of 3-4 months. Selection will be based on professional qualifications of applicants, and on the quality and significance of their project proposals.
Up to 2 awards to successful candidates nominated by the 10 countries in the region will be offered during this initiative program in 2014 for a period of 3-4 months. Funding for this program is through the Thailand‑United States Educational Foundation under the Fulbright Program.
Fulbright Thailand will nominate up to two (2) candidates for final approval which will be made by the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board in Washington with notification conveyed to selected and non-selected candidates expected by May 2015.
